This is from the French Coq-Hardi publication, done by artist Marijac (Jacques Dumas). This comic comes from just after World War II, when French readers were eager to escape the realities of post-War Europe by reading about American frontier heroes. Texas Jack had long been popular with French readers, the Texas Jack La Terreur des Indiens (Texas Jack, the Terror of the Indians) series of dime novels lasting more than 200 issues and seeing multiple reprints. For French youth reading about America, the name Texas Jack and the idea of the Wild West were one and the same.
